Despite the industry's dire predictions, the business of insuring doctors in Connecticut has been very profitable over the last couple years. For years, the insurance industry has been arguing for caps on physical pain and suffering damages. The insurance companies claim that without such caps they cannot afford to be in the business of underwriting liability policies for medical malpractice.

Trial lawyers representing individuals injured as a result of medical malpractice have long suspected that the insurance industry's claims were untrue. The latest data of strong profits from a Connecticut based insurer in the business of insuring doctors further displays the inaccuracy of the industry's doom and gloom predictions. In fact, based on these high profits, Connecticut doctors deserve a roll-back on their premiums.
