Dr. Joel Lippman,a former vice president at Johnson & Johnson, was fired by the company after he recommended that the company recall certain products that were unsafe. One of the products that the doctor deemed unsafe was the Ortho Evra birth control patch. He considered the device unsafe due to the fact that the patch released dangerously high levels of estrogen into patients.

In his wrongful ternination lawsuit against Johnson & Johnson, Dr. Lippman alleges that after he complained of the lack of sfaety of certain Johnson & Johnson medical devices including the Ortho Evra birth control patch, he was criticized by the company for not being a "team" player and was eventually terminated from his job. Dr. Lippman's lawsuit and his testimony will undoubtedly provide additional evidence that not only is the birth control patch unsafe but Johnson & Johnson knew about the problem for some time and failed to take appropriate corrective measures.
