This afternoon, 89 year-old driver Robert Laine of Wallingford, CT. drove through a crowd of pedestrians in an accident at Sailfest in New London. At least 27 persons were taken to the hospital for injuries ranging from serious to bumps and bruises. This accident is eerily similar to one in California a year or two ago and raises questions about the accident risks elderly drivers pose in an increasingly aging population which also faces more congested roads with each day.
